Single-subject degrees exist in each of these areas. All degrees are accredited by the Ministry of Education of China. These degrees lead to a BSc or a BEng qualification. BSc and BEng degrees are basically four year 'bachelor' degrees meeting the educational requirements.

Many degrees share a common first year with basic courses, allowing sufficient preparation for the professional course studies in the following years. They have a variant which includes an “internship term”, in that the students spend a term working in industry, gaining valuable experience.
