Research Overview
At the beginning of its establishment, digitized meteorological science should be special art feature of School of Media and Art. The research and development of meteorological animation could motivate animation teaching and lead the students into these projects. Our teaching characteristic is to form a creative team that teachers and students could interact with each other. Combined with our media art, the research of meteorological animation makes a great contribution to meteorological science development.

Research groups
There exist two research groups in School of Media and Art:seven research laboratories/studios as follows:
Meteorological Animation Research Group
Digital Media Art Research Group

The School of Media and Arts has over ten first-class laboratories, including iMac & CG rooms, photo studio, recording studio, 3D audiovisual studio, meteorological

animation laboratory, interactive media laboratory, copy room, drawing room, Animation Studio and Digital Media studio.

The photo & film studio is the largest photography base in Jiangbei area of Nanjing. It can meet all kinds of needs in film shooting and

photo teaching. Also the studio is equipped with a set of Apple workstation, so the teachers and students could do the post editing. Next to the photo studio is the recording studio, which can meet all kinds of professional recording requirements. The audio visual room can accommodate 60 people at the same time, equipped with double 3D digital HDTV projection and top

stereo system. The meteorological animation laboratory has the only holographic touch system among the universities in Jiangsu Province. The interactive media laboratory has a touch table and several motion capture games. The iMac room has 50 Apple iMacs and three CG rooms with 150 PC workstations (150 Wacom).

The labs with first class equipments provide the teachers and students an excellent teaching and learning environment.

Research themes
All of research activities underpin the university's four priority research themes:
• Discipline Construction
to build the meteorological animation art discipline to be the key subject of the university.
• Talent Cultivation
to train the students to be the applied design talents in meteorological animation.
• Construction of Meteorological Animation Research Group
to train and introduce senior talents in film animation and digital media research field, to build a high level and professional teaching group.
• Laboratory Construction
to build a platform which provides production, studying, researching and to build a top meteorological animation research innovation group.
