Research Fields:

He has been engaging in teaching and management of meteorological education and teaching such courses as “Dynamic Meteorology” and “Nonlinear Dynamics”, etc. At present, he presides over the National Natural Science Foundation projects “Study on the mechanism of the impact of abnormal Indian Ocean dipole SST on the variation of East Asian summer monsoon (40475028) and “Atmospheric oscillation between southern and northern hemispheres and its correlation with abnormal climate in China (40675025), focusing on the study of changing mechanism of atmospheric circulation, and Asian monsoon and air-sea interaction, etc.

Presided over several National Natural Science Foundation projects, and paid a visit to Britain, Japan and USA for long-term academic exchange. After years of research, he has made achievements in the changing mechanism of atmospheric circulation, Asian monsoon and air-sea interaction, etc., e.g. revealing the atmospheric oscillation between southern and northern hemispheres on a global scale and the triangular teleconnection mechanism of the impact of changing Indian Ocean SST on the activity of East Asian summer monsoon, etc. These research achievements have deepened people’s understanding of climate variability and monsoon changing mechanism. In addition, he attends important international conferences (like AGU Conference) frequently, and has published more than 50 academic papers on major international academic periodicals and domestic core publications. In addition, he won Tu Changwang Prize of 1996-1997 Youth Science and Technology Award, Chinese Meteorological Society, was selected into Trans-century Academic Leaders in the “Blue Project” of Jiangsu Province and the second batch of “333 High-level Talented People Training Program” of Jiangsu Province in 1998, won the Outstanding Research Award by FY2002 FRSGC, Japan, and won the honorary title of Youth- and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions of 2004 in Jiangsu Province in 2005.
