Unveiling Ceremony of the Collaborative Innovation Center on Forecast and Evaluation of Meteorological Disasters in NUIST

On the afternoon of August 29，the unveiling ceremony of Collaborative Innovation Center on Forecast and Evaluation of Meteorological Disasters, co-established by the Institute of Atmospheric Physics，Chinese Academy of Sciences , National Meteorological Center，National Climate Center, Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, PLA University of Science and Technology, Chengdu University of Information Technology, No.14 Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and NUIST, was held in the lecture hall of Meteorology Building in NUIST. Deputy Governor of Jiangsu Province, Mr. Cao Weixing and Deputy Administrator of CMA, Mr. Xu Xiaofeng unveiled the center together.

Professor Li Lianshui, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, delivered a welcome speech at the inauguration ceremony. On behalf of all the staff and students of NUIST, professor Li warmly welcomed all the leaders from Jiangsu Province, CMA and other cooperative units attending the ceremony and expressed sincere gratitude to their full support to the Collaborative Innovation Center.

 
China is one of the countries that suffer most from natural disasters, more than 70% of which are meteorological disasters. China attaches great importance to the prevention and mitigation of national meteorological disasters. The Collaborative Innovation Center will focus on the forecast and evaluation of meteorological disasters, which responds positively to the call of China and the whole world. The eight collaborative units cover various research fields as scientific research，education, business and technical research. With different emphasis and complementary advantages, they have already made a deep integration in platform construction, personnel training, team building, information sharing and some other aspects.
