Seminar on Earthquake Disaster and Emergency Rescue for Developing Countries was held in the Nanjing University of Information, Science and Technology

On the morning of September 2, with the support of the Ministry of Commerce of the Republic of China, 2016 Seminar on Earthquake Disaster and Emergency Rescue for Developing Countries was held in the Nanjing University of Information, Science and Technology. 39 participants from Peru, Moldova, Afghanistan, Kenya and other thirteen countries had attended the seminar. The vice president of NUIST, Professor Min Jinzhong, attended the opening ceremony and delivered welcoming speech Executive Deputy Director of WMO RTC Professor Wang Suchun, hosted the event.
 
The vice president Min extended great welcome to all participants from various countries, then briefly introduced an overview of Nanjing University of Information, Science and Technology and WMO Regional Training Center. He said, earthquake is the main disaster confronted by China as well as countries presented here. Natural disasters has brought huge economic losses to the whole world and caused tens of thousands of casualties. To effectively implement early warning, emergency response and recovery and reconstruction work of earthquake and other natural disasters, reducing the losses caused by such disasters, the seminar is organized by WMO RTC Nanjing, entrusted by the Ministry of Commerce of the Republic of China. He hopes the upcoming seminar will share experience from China as well as other countries.
 
Mr.Isaac Peters, Lieutenant Colonel from Zimbabwe expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the WMO RTC Nanjing who organized this seminar. During his speech, he said their countries experienced various types of disasters from time to time, strategies provided by the seminar emphasized on the preparedness and response time to such disasters as earthquakes, and the critical requisite skills and coordination mechanisms in the management of disasters.
 
According to the requirements of the Ministry of Commerce, WMO RTC will organize participants to attend internship training in  China Seismological Bureau.
