President of International Union of the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology Efthymios Nikolaidis paying a visit to NUIST

On the morning of Nov.24, 2016, Efthymios Nikolaidis, President of International Union of the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology, visited our university accompanied by his wife. They were met by President Jiang Jianqing, vice president Zhou Weican and representatives from Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, School of Language and Culture and History of Science Institute.
 
President Jiang warmly welcomed Efthymios for his visit to NUIST and introduced the history of Nanjing City and the development of our university. He pointed out that Nanjing, as a historical and cultural city,plays a key role in the China’s development. NUIST enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad due to its great contribution in cultivating batches of meteorological talents for China and the world since its establishment in 1960, and our university is also the cradle of meteorologists in China and the prime international training base of meteorological causes. Taking this platform, NUIST is stretching forward to build a first class key university with multidisciplinary cross fusion, including the development of science of history. And the visit of Efthymios will promote the discipline construction and development of history of science.
 
Efthymios expressed his gladness for visiting our university, introducing that International Union of the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology aims to propel the development of science of history in the world and attains support from more than 150 countries. He hoped to enhance the cooperation with China to promote the development in science of Chinese history and showed his good wishes for the opening ceremony of the 14th International Conference on the History of Science in China& the 1st International Symposium on the Four Great Inventions of Ancient China held in our university. At last, Efthymios expressed his willingness of hosting more large-scale history of science and technology meetings in NUIST in the future.
